Happy Heritage Farms pigs eat non GMO feed, therefore we incorporate pasture grass and sage into their diet. Seasonally, the pigs feast on apples, vegetables, and acorns. We choose to finish our pigs on barley. This ensures our meats are delicious.
The Mangalitsa pig is a Heritage breed of pig. Above all, they are bred and raised for its flavor and its great tasting meat. The meat is a bright red in color with marbling. The History Of Mangalitsa Pig
Our Mangalica piglets for sale, are a Heritage breed of pig originating from a Hungarian breed of domestic pig. It was developed in mid-19th century by crossbreeding Hungarian breeds of domestic pigs with European wild boar. And then, a Serbian breed. Because of that, the Mangalitsa pig grows a thick, curly coat of hair like a sheep.
These woolen pigs are great foragers. Mangalica pig require a lot of room to roam and have free range. Therefore, you will need plenty of outdoor space for them to stay healthy and happy. The “blonde” Mangalica Pig is blonde. The “swallow-bellied” has a blonde lower-portion while the upper-portion is black. The “red” is ginger-colored.
